Water Conservation Rebate

Starting April 3, 2025

The Town of Morinville is looking to reward people for their water conservation efforts through our new rebate program. Utility account holders are eligible for a rebate when they purchase items from our approved item list. The approved item list includes drought-tolerant trees, shrubs, plants, turf/grass, mulch and rain barrels. Many of these items can be found locally at Castle, Wolf Creek Building Supplies Morinville and Home Hardware Morinville.

Using drought-tolerant landscaping materials and plants effectively promotes water conservation while creating a sustainable and visually appealing outdoor space. Here are some key benefits:

  1. Drought-tolerant plants require minimal watering once established, significantly reducing water usage.
  2. Less water usage leads to lower utility bills. Additionally, reduced maintenance means fewer costs for fertilizers, pesticides, and lawn care services.
  3. Reduces strain on local water supplies.
  4. Drought-tolerant plants are better suited to withstand extreme weather conditions, such as heat waves and dry spells, making landscapes more resilient over time.
  5. Using native, drought-tolerant plants can provide habitat and food for pollinators like bees, butterflies, and birds, fostering a healthier ecosystem.
  6. Drought-tolerant landscapes can be visually stunning, incorporating a variety of textures, colors, and plant forms. Rock gardens, succulents, ornamental grasses and native wildflowers can create a unique and appealing design.

Rebates are offered on a first-come, first-served basis until the program funds have been depleted.
