Lite Up the Nite is an annual celebration of family, community, and the holiday season delivered by the Town of Morinville and many dedicated community organization partners. Planned with young and old in mind, this event offers many wonderful, free activities to connect neighbors, friends, and families in the spirit of the holiday season. This year's three-day activities include a Lite Up the Nite Dance Party, A Festive Family Festival, Lite Up the Nite Parade featuring Santa and Mrs. Claus, Lite Up the Park at St. Jean Baptiste Park, and spectacular high-level fireworks display that can be viewed nearly anywhere in Morinville, including from the comfort of home, plus much more!

2024 Lite Up the Nite Christmas Festival Schedule of Events
12 to 5 p.m.
Musée Morinville Museum | 10010 101 Street, Morinville, AB
Visit the Musée Morinville Museum to view Christmas artifacts from the past and pick up a kit to make an ornament, while supplies last. Admission is free.
Lite Up the Nite Dance Party
Presented by McDonald’s, Morinville
6:30 to 9:30 p.m. (doors open 6:30 p.m.)

Kick off the weekend at the Lite Up the Nite Dance Party. Dress festive or fun with Christmas jammies or sweaters; anything red or green; or your holiday best. Consider supporting the Ronald McDonald House by donating a new, unwrapped toy and/or purchasing something from the McDonald's concession. Receive a great giveaway* from McDonald’s, free glowsticks*, glitter tattoos* and a holiday photo booth. NEW this year is a Low Sensory Activity Room. This is a free ticketed event. A ticket is required for everyone in attendance.
*Free tickets available to Morinville and Sturgeon County residents over the age of 16 from November 4 to 6, at the MCCC box office during operational hours. Proof of residency required. Tickets available to the general public starting November 7 at 9 a.m., in-person at the MCCC, online or by phone.
Maximum of 8 tickets per household. Please acquire only the tickets you will be using to ensure that everyone can enjoy this great event. Tickets are free and have no cash value. Should the event sell out, please call 780-939-7839 to be put on the waitlist.
If you are unable to attend or have extra tickets, please call Community Services to return online tickets or bring physical tickets to the Morinville Community Cultural Centre before the event to be redistributed to those on the waitlist. Tickets are free and have no cash value.

A Festive Family Festival

Join us at A Festive Family Festival and enjoy a variety of free holiday fun and entertainment. Admission is free.
- Take a free keepsake Photo with Santa, proudly presented by OK Tire Morinville
- Write a Postcard to Santa, proudly supported by Hunter’s Print & Copy
- Decorate a cookie and make a variety of holiday crafts, while supplies last
- Take a ride on a horse drawn wagon, outdoors behind the MCCC
- Enjoy Hula Hoop Circus Performances
- Have your face painted into a fun or festive creation
- Enjoy some quiet time in the low sensory rooms
- Take in a live Christmas themed musical performances and a hand bell choir
- Pick up a balloon creation, have your face painted, plus more!
- Paid coffee station will be onsite indoors serving: coffee, lattes, baked goods and more.

Indoor Lite Up the Nite Parade Viewing
5 to 6:30 p.m.

Enjoy a cup of hot chocolate* as you experience the magic of our Christmas parade from the cozy comfort of an indoor setting. This viewing party is specially curated for our seniors, older adults and community members facing accessibility challenges in the outdoor winter elements. This program is free, registration is required, RecDesk.

Enjoy a yummy cup of hot chocolate served by the Morinville Community Library and Friends of the Library Society.* and support the library by purchasing snacks, proceeds going towards library programming.
Lite Up the Nite Parade
5:30 p.m.
The parade travels west down 100 Avenue, from Grandin Drive to 103 Street, stopping in front of St. Jean Baptiste Park for the Lite Up the Park ceremony. Participation in the Morinville Lite Up the Nite Christmas Festival Parade is free for all businesses, non-profit groups, and organizations.

Join us for special ceremony and dedication as Mayor Boersma, Santa and Mrs. Claus “Lite Up the Park.”
Lite Up the Nite Fireworks

Take in spectacular fireworks show from Notre Dame Park or from the comfort of home. This high-level show can be enjoyed from nearly any place in Morinville. Caution! This is a loud noise event.

Flag raising: 2 p.m. Skate: 2:15 to 4:15 p.m.
Morinville Leisure Centre | 25126 SH642, Sturgeon County, AB
Participants must bring their own skates. No strollers, hockey sticks or pucks. CSA approved hockey helmets are required for anyone younger than age 18 and are recommended for anyone aged 18 and older. Children under 8 years must be actively supervised on the ice at all times by a responsible individual 16 years or older.
