• Since the Photo Enforcement Program began in 2009, approximately 10 million vehicles have passed through Morinville. 
  • As of 2013, a total of 27,895 speeding violations have been issued.
  • Despite the increase in traffic volume, there has been a 58% reduction in tickets issued over the past 3 years (8,672 violations in 2009/2010 vs. 3,684 violations in 2012/2013).
  • There are NO costs to the Morinville Tax Payer for the operation of the Photo enforcement program. Revenue is collected from those who violate the posted speed limit. Contractor assumes all risk for operating expenses based on a 40 hour work week.
  • Redlight Cameras are currently not used in Morinville, however, traffic research and other communities that use this technology are demonstrating reductions in traffic violations thus increasing traffic safety.
  • Traffic studies around the world are consistently demonstrating speeds just over 5km/hr above the typical urban speed limits are sufficient to double the risk of a casualty collision.
  • Town of Morinville is a Member of CRISP (Capital Region Intersection Safety Partnership) which includes membership from Edmonton, Spruce Grove, Fort Saskatchewan, Leduc, St. Albert, Strathcona County, Alberta Health Services, RCMP, Alberta Traffic Service, and Alberta Motor Association.
