Dog Registration:

All dogs in Morinville, must be registered for and wear a licence tag.  Tags are available at the Town of Morinville Civic Hall, 10125-100 Avenue, Morinville.  The tag must be obtained or renewed annually on or before the end of January.

A tag will immediately identify your dog if it is found at large.Nilla wdogtag-compressed

Unaltered dog registration - $100 (Lifetime)
Spayed/Neutered dog registration - $50
Spayed/Neutered/Michrochipped dog registration - $25
Yearly Reneal - $10
Service Animal - No charge

*All dogs that were licenced properly in 2016 as per Bylaw 26/2010 shall receive a 50% reduction in 2017 for dog registration in accordance with this bylaw.

Cat Registration

All cats in Morinville, must be registered. Cats are required to wear their licence tag unless they are permanently identified through a michrochip or legible tattoo. Tags are available at the Town of Morinville Civic Hall, 10125-100 Avenue, Morinville.  The tag must be obtained or renewed annually on or before the end of January.

Unique Animals (Fowl Pilot Program)

As part of the new Responsible Pet Ownership Bylaw 5/2016, a pilot program was approved for 2017 to fowl only. A maximum of 10 households will be approved in 2017. Approved households will only be allowed six fowl. Prior to permit approval, a list of conditions must be met.  Download and complete the application at the following link.

Lost Animal

If your dog or cat has gone missing please contact Morinville Peace Officers by email or by calling the Town Office at 780-939-4361.  The Peace Officers may be able to locate your pet.

Found Animal

If you have found an animal with a current Town of Morinville animal tag you may be able to reunite the animal with its owner.  As long as the owner has consented to publishing their name and phone number you can search for it using our E-Services section of this website.  By entering the tag number the contact information will be displayed, as long as consent has been given.  You may also view a listing of found animals at the Morinville Veterinary Clinic.

Regulations you need to know:

  • The regulations for animal ownership are outlined in more detail in the Responsible Pet Ownership Bylaw 5/2016.
  • All animals, as defined in the bylaw, must be licenced by the Town of Morinville.
  • No dog or cat is permitted to run at large. All animals must be on a leash/lead or under the control of a responsible person.
  • An owner is not permitted to own MORE THAN three  (3) dogs and three (3) cats requiring a registration without a kennel licence. Click here to download the Animal Harbouring Permit Application Form
