Volunteers are essential to maintaining healthy and dynamic communities. They have a passion for getting involved, they take action in supporting organizations and events that are important to them and they make an impact in communities across the country.
The real value of Volunteerism is the impact made on the mission of the organization or the outcome of the event, the community and the passionate engagement volunteers feel when they are involved in their communities.
Morinville Volunteers raises awareness of the value of volunteerism, encourages people to volunteer, provides information about volunteerism, and recognizes the contribution of volunteers. We do this by initiating and supporting mass media campaigns to promote volunteering through newspaper columns, television and radio shows, and public service announcements.
On behalf of our member agencies, we work with the media, business community, educational institutions, government agencies and the public to promote volunteerism. These efforts attract new volunteers & help retain current volunteers. Morinville Volunteers strives to inform the community about what and how much volunteers contribute, thus increasing the appreciation of their role.
If you are interested in volunteering, please visit the Community Directory and touch base with organizations directly whom you are interested in volunteering at.
Celebrating Our Volunteers
National Volunteer Week: April 23 - 29, 2017
Join us in recognizing, appreciating and thanking volunteers of all ages who contribute to our community in a variety of ways. Morinville Volunteers has developed into a program providing the volunteers and organizations with the resources they need to continue successfully volunteering within the community and to support their volunteers the best way — within their own organizations. Removing individual awards and recognizing Morinville Volunteers is an essential part of celebrating our community volunteers.
Organization $150 Volunteer Grants
Each organization within Morinville can apply for up to $150/per organization funding that contributes to the further development and celebration of their own volunteers. This grant will be available April 3 with a submission deadline of April 28 and can be used throughout the 2017 year.
Both workshops are presented by Heather Nicol of Alberta Culture and Tourism — Community Development and held at the Morinville Community Cultural Centre. Pre-registration is required as there are limited spaces available.
