Lisa-Holmes-300x450cLisa Holmes moved to Morinville with her husband, Thomas, and sons Nathan and Zachary in 2009. She grew up in a small town in Southern Alberta and moved to B.C.'s Okanagan-Shuswap for her high school years. First elected to Council in 2010, Lisa served one term as Councillor before being elected Mayor in October of 2013. Being engaged in the community that she lives in has always been important to Lisa and becoming an elected official has allowed her to do that in a greater capacity. She was the 23rd municipal politician in Alberta to graduate from the Elected Officials Education Program in the Fall of 2012 after completing all of the course requirements in her first year of office.

Her career so far has been focused in the non-profit sector working for several national and provincial associations in fund development, marketing and as Executive Director.

In November 2013, Lisa was elected for a two year term as the Director of Towns – East for the Alberta Urban Municipalities Association. She represents 34 municipalities on the AUMA Board and serves as the AUMA representative on the Safe & Health Communities Committee; Utility Consumer Advocate Board (through the Ministry of Service Alberta); AAMD&C Pembina Zone and as Chairperson of the Women in Government Committee. She was also named as one of eight Alberta Regional Champions for Women in Government through the Federation of Canadian Municipalities and is serving as a mentor for youth interested in politics though the Canadian Women Voters Congress.

In May of 2013, Lisa was appointed by Premier Alison Redford to the Premier's Council on Alberta's Promise. She is one of 84 appointed members who work to further the Alberta Government's commitment to Children and Youth initiatives in our province.

As of September 25, 2015, she will begin a two year term as President of the Alberta Urban Municipalities Association.
Lisa is an avid reader, loves travel and photography and is enjoying her experience being a hockey/soccer mom. Her family loves to make use of Morinville's great trail system with nightly bike rides and walks.
