What do I do if my garbage or yard waste was not picked up?

If your garbage, recycling or yard waste was not collected on the regularly scheduled day, you should receive a note from GFL Environmental Ltd. with the reason(s) for it not being collected. If you have further questions on a missed pickup or did not receive a note, please contact the Town of Morinville Public Works at 780-939-2590.

What do I do if my yard waste is not completely emptied?

To prevent the grass clippings from sticking in the bottom of the yard waste cart you can line the bottom of the container with cardboard. For a missed pick up contact Public Works at 780-939-2590.

Who do I call if my cart is broken?

If your garbage or yard waste cart has been broken, the wheels fell off or the lid is cracked etc; please contact the Town of Morinville’s Public Works Department at 780-939-2590.

I am moving out of my current address, what do I do with my garbage and Yard Waste Carts?

The garbage and yard waste carts are assigned to each address through a serial number; if you are moving please leave the garbage and yard waste carts at the address.

I am moving into a newly built home, how can I get garbage and yard waste carts?

To receive the garbage and yard waste carts you must first set up a utility account with the Town of Morinville. To set up a utility account please call Civic Hall at 780-939-4361. Once the account has been created staff will order carts to be delivered to your new address.

I didn’t have a garbage cart when I moved into my house. How do I get one?

Please contact the Town of Morinville’s Public Works Department at 780-939-2590.

What do I do if I have more garbage or grass clippings than my cart will hold?

A user pay disposal system for Roseridge Landfill is in place. The permit allows residents to dispose any extra solid waste (garbage, yard waste or recycling) at the Roseridge Landfill. For more information on Landfill Permits click here.

Can I get an extra garbage or yard waste cart?

Yes, a resident may request the delivery of an additional waste or yard waste cart.  The cart must be kept for one year from the date of order, and an additional fee will be added to your monthly utility bill.  Please contact the Public Works Department for more information at 780-939-2590.

Who do I call if my cart is missing or stolen?

If your cart has been lost or stolen please notify the Public Works Department at 780-939-2590. Residents may be liable for the cost of cart replacement under the Town Waste Management Bylaw.

What is acceptable yard waste?

Yard waste include: uncontaminated, non-bagged, organic waste from gardening activities such as grass clippings, leaves, brush, house and garden plants, small tree pruning's and other garden waste.

Organics also include: fruits and vegetables, meat, poultry, fish, pasta, cereals, rice, coffee grounds/filters, tea bags, baked goods (cake, cookies, bread), flower and vegetable plant material and paper bags.

Organics Exclude: Diapers, sanitary products, animal waste, cat litter, hair, pet fur, dryer lint, vacuum dust, floor sweepings, weeds and diseased plants, cheese, dairy and plastic bags.

What do I do with hazardous waste?

Hazardous waste can be disposed of at Roseridge Landfill or at the Town of Morinville’s Annual Hazardous Waste Roundup.

Where can I get blue bags?

Recycling Blue Bags can be purchased at most local retailers. The Town does not supply blue bags to residents.

Are used plastic bags (grocery bags) recyclable?

Unfortunately plastic bags are not recyclable, dispose of them with your household garbage.

Is Styrofoam recyclable? What can I do with my used Styrofoam

Unfortunately Styrofoam is not recyclable, dispose of it with your household garbage.

Is shredded paper recyclable?

Yes, shredded paper can be recycled; please use a separate bag for large quantities of shredded paper.
